Adelphi, Md. (Sept.  24, 2024)—������Ƶ (UMGC) has partnered with SkillsWave, a workforce education and training company, to provide access to several of the university’s certificate programs, as well as its Master’s of Business Administration degree.

UMGC will make available certificate programs in data analytics, human resource people analytics, leadership, cloud computing, and accounting. The collaboration, which is expected to later include additional programs, targets adult learners, a demographic that is a focus of both UMGC and SkillsWave’s corporate partners.

“We are excited to partner with SkillsWave and expand the reach of our programs to its network of learners in the workforce,” said Blakely Pomietto, senior vice president and chief academic officer at UMGC. “In addition to offering affordable learning experiences taught by industry practitioner faculty, we provide our students with wrap-around support throughout their journey.”

Pomietto said that support includes UMGC admissions professionals to help students register for their first classes, success coaches to assist them in navigating their academic journey, and a broad spectrum of academic services including tutoring and assistance with writing skills. The university also makes available career services that students can continue to access even after they complete their programs.

“We are committed to supporting learners every step of the way,” Pomietto said.

With adult learners having become a large demographic in higher education, having programs targeting their diverse needs is crucial. UMGC was founded over 75 years ago with the specific goal of meeting the higher education needs of working adults. UMGC understands the unique needs of adult learners, providing online classes that allow flexibility to study at their own pace and on their own time. The university also offers digital course materials that eliminate the need for costly publisher textbooks in most courses.
